Screenwriting Workshop

The workshop guides teachers through the creation of their own rudimentary, original film script. The process introduces concepts and vocabulary of screenwriting, especially as they apply to Essential Learnings skills. Analysis of film structure can lead to discussion of its cultural, scientific, and historical ramifications. Teachers leave with practical exercises (dealing with historical setting, plot, and dialogue, for example) that they can use in their classrooms. Direction is offered in how to design a long-term program integrating the use of story (and students? enthusiasm for movies) into a range of subject areas.
