Summer Screenwriting CourseWrite Your Movie!
Do you have an idea for a feature film? Would you like to get it into the correct form so others could see it? How about using it to get representation? or even getting it sold?
Portland native Kyle Rankin will be returning to Maine from Los Angeles to teach TWO 8-week SCREENWRITING COURSES in Portland beginning June 15th. Mr. Rankin co-directed Miramax?s The Battle of Shaker Heights in 2003 and co-wrote and produced Maine?s first independent feature film Reindeer Games (being released this August by Hollywood Wizard and Asylum Distribution). Over the past 10 years, Mr. Rankin has written and produced dozens of independent shorts including Pennyweight (winner of five ?Best Short Film? awards -- eligible to be nominated for an Academy Award) and They Came To Attack Us (winner of three ?Best Short Film? awards and aired nationally on the Sci-Fi Channel). His latest comedy spec is currently being shopped around to major studios by his management.
The goal of the workshop is for each student to walk away with a finished script. The Advanced Class is intended for those who have already completed at least one screenplay on their own -- a familiarity and basic knowledge will be assumed and built upon. The Beginners Class is for those who know nothing about the screenwriting form and will start at square one. Unlike other screenwriting courses Mr. Rankin has attended (e.g. the UCLA Professionals Program), he plans to make himself available during the weeks of the workshops to meet privately with students if the need arises. Get that film out of your head and onto the page! |
